HOW TO BROWSE AND BID:
-Highlight and click a genre in the list on the left of the page to browse that section of the current catalog, or select "All Sections" to view the entire current catalog at once.
-When you see an item you'd like to bid on in the listings, click "Place a bid!" to the left of that item listing. You'll be taken to a page with info on only at that item, with an empty box in which you type your bid. Please enter only numbers in this box -- no symbols or letters.
-2nd highest bid? Yes, as in, not the highest bid, but the 2nd highest -- this prevents "snipe" style bids, where a bidder just bids $1 over the highest bid...if you want easy bid-topping, go to eBAY. THIS SITE DOES NOT WORK LIKE eBAY or other such clearing-house style auction sites. This site functions more along the lines of a traditional auction -- in most cases, YOU PAY WHAT YOU BID. We _do_ make adjustments for drastic overbids at our discretion -- but in general, please bid what you intend to pay. Another reason for the 2nd-highest bid system is that a considerable amount of GRR's customers still bid through the mail and can't very well constantly call for updates on their bids, so this gives their bids a bit more relevance and longevity.
-When you are ready to lock your bids into the system, click "Submit my bids" on the Checkout/Bid Sheet page. You will be taken to the final checkout page where you must fill in your contact details. Any bid alterations or cancellations should be made now (click the "Review Bids/Checkout" button to return to the preliminary checkout page) -- otherwise click "Submit bids" to lock your bids in to the system. You will receive an automatic email confirmation reminding you of the bids and contact info you've submitted.
CANCELLING OR CHANGING BIDS ONCE THEY'VE BEEN ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM:
-Want to change a previous bid on an item? Raising it is handled with no problem by the system and you need not bring it to our attention - just go through the bid process again for that item and submit your higher bid. Do the same if you are lowering a bid that you've already entered into the system (ie you've received a bid confirmation email for the bid), HOWEVER please notify us at grr@grrecords.com
and tell us that you've lowered your previous bid.
-Want to cancel a bid? You may use "zero bids" in order to do so. That is, go through the bidding process again, and submit "0" as a bid for the item you want to cancel your bid on.
-For any cancellations or bid changes, you can always just notify us directly if you prefer, which may be less time consuming in some cases.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I'VE SUBMITTED BIDS INTO THE SYSTEM? IS THAT IT?:
-Pretty much!
We'll send out an email reminder or two as the closing date looms. Otherwise, you can sit back and wait for the auction to close and to be notified about your bidding results -- We email results to each individual bidder a few days after the close of the auction. We also make the highest bids (as opposed to 2nd highest bids) visible on the site, in the listings, within a day or two after the closing date.
-BE AWARE that some bidders choose to bid in the closing hours, and even closing minutes of the auction. This is very eBay-ish behavior -- We don't exactly discourage it, it's cool that there are some hardcore bidders watching the auction so intently -- but they should be aware that the closing time is not exact to the second. We close the bidding pages down manually -- we get it done within a minute or two of the stated closing time. We are not exact to the second, like eBay.
